Massage is Better as a Practice

To truly experience the full benefits of something, it's important to make it a regular part of your daily life. Real fitness progress can be achieved by committing to exercising at least three times a week for 30 minutes. Consistent therapy sessions have the potential to bring about noticeable improvements in emotional and mental well-being. Many individuals have shared that they experienced physical relief and mental clarity after receiving a 60-minute massage once a week for six weeks. At RTCTM, we understand the importance of seamlessly incorporating massage into your daily schedule, as it can be a valuable investment in your overall health and well-being.

Remember, while one-time efforts are valuable, real healing and growth come from consistent action. Keep this in mind as you move forward:

How Often Should i Receive a MAssage?

The Frequency of massage depends on your level of activity and stress,

How often should i receive a massage?

When you ask your massage therapist this question, there are two possible answers. One answer leaves the decision up to you, which may result in you not booking an appointment that day, but you may book in the future. The other answer will ensure that you either purchase a membership or a multi-package, and you will leave with a few appointments scheduled on your calendar.

One Response

It’s common to want to visit for a massage frequently, but it’s important to listen to your body’s signals. Pay attention to how you feel before and after your massage, and how long it takes for those feelings to return. It’s recommended to schedule your next appointment before you start feeling the same way you did before your previous session. At the very least, it’s advisable to come in once a month.

This answer pushes the client to book before they leave.

Based on your level of activity I would recommend coming in once a week for about 6 weeks then we taper down to coming in biweekly for about 2 months then we taper down once monthly.

Both of these options will benefit you, the client. If you come in for a massage once a week, you’ll be able to keep muscle tension at bay, and by the end of the six weeks, you should feel like you’re living pain-free. If you switch to biweekly massages, you’ll be able to gauge how long you can go before needing another massage. The frequency of massages you need will depends on your physical activity. After two months, you may be able to step down to once-a-month massages, which means you’ll be able to go about your day with little to no chronic pain.

This answer also gives the therapist the opportunity to talk about everything they have to offer. And leaves you with the idea the therapist wants you to come back.  And you and the therapist can make a plan for your care.    The First answer is okay it’s not pushy.  And leaves it up to the client.

It's summertime, and that means the mosquitoes are out in full force, buzzing and biting! If you're looking for a natural way to tackle these pesky pests, I've got a simple DIY recipe that worked wonders for me last summer.

✨ Bug-Be-Gone Blend:

- Thyme: 4 drops

- Lemongrass: 8 drops

- Lavender: 4 drops

- Peppermint: 4 drops

- Tea Tree: 2 drops

This blend not only smells fantastic, but it also helped keep those bothersome bugs at bay. Of course, there are plenty of other effective mixtures out there, but this one is definitely worth a try! Enjoy your summer outdoors without the annoying bites! 🦟🌿

Whats More Important fancy TECHNIQUES, Or Intuition?

The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning

Whats more important Fancy Techniques or Intuition?

When it comes to being a massage therapist, one skill truly stands out: intuition. The Oxford Dictionary defines intuition as a sense of knowing that comes from instinct rather than deliberate thought. It’s that gut feeling where you just know, even if you can’t pinpoint exactly why. This intuitive gift is rooted in all your past experiences and knowledge, allowing you to connect on a deeper level with your clients.

Imagine entering a session with a solid plan in mind, only to discover that your initial approach isn’t quite hitting the mark. That’s where intuition shines. It gives you the flexibility to adapt and transform the session, tailoring it to meet the unique needs of each individual. Trusting your instincts allows you to create a truly personalized experience that resonates with your clients, ultimately leading to a more effective and fulfilling practice.

I had a client come in while I was working at the spa, and it was a couples session. Her husband had found a therapist he enjoyed, but the wife was still on the lookout for someone who suited her needs. She was a full-figured woman with curves, and honestly, she was on the heavier side. When women have both a large tummy and a sizable derriere, the tummy tends to pull on the abs, pushing the hips forward and contributing to more curvature in the lower back. At the same time, the glutes are constantly working to keep the back aligned, which can lead to increased back and hip pain.

As a massage therapist, this kind of situation usually gets us excited because we can apply all those advanced techniques we learned in those pricey continuing education classes. We often dive in with elbows and forearms, ready to work.

However, that wasn’t what this client needed at all. She was so sensitive to touch that even the slightest pressure from my hand seemed to cause her discomfort.

She was looking for relief, but her body couldn’t handle any firm pressure at all. So, I made some adjustments. I shifted from using my knuckles with firm pressure to a gentle touch using my palm. Rather than forcing the tension out of her muscles, we focused on rocking and stretching. I repositioned her legs to access deeper muscles that usually required a lot more pressure, which allowed her to start letting go and relaxing a bit. I transitioned into a flowing, rhythmic massage and told her, “Your only homework for the rest of the session is to do absolutely nothing.” She was more than happy to comply.

Years of intuition and experience told me this client didn’t need a deep tissue massage. Despite her larger body type, what she really needed was care and support. I have a feeling she’ll book another session with me. Time will tell if we’ll see each other again in a month.

While it's great to be knowledgeable about every modality and technique out there, the real skill lies in your ability to tune in to what’s happening in the moment. If you can't adapt to your client's needs in real time, you risk losing their trust and, ultimately, their business. Being flexible and perceptive is key to building lasting relationships!

If you’re seeking a convenient way to enjoy a relaxing massage in the comfort of your own home, look no further! Visit RTCTM.com to discover how you can arrange for a skilled massage therapist to come to you. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating therapeutic massage without ever stepping outside!
